Workshop on Program & Financial Management, Monitoring & Evaluation and Human Resources

Luanda, 2 November 2007 - On October 31st and November 1st, the UNDP implemented a two-day workshop in Luanda on Program and Financial Management, Monitoring and Evaluation and Human Resources in order to improve the capacity of major national and international civic agencies and grass roots organizations on these subjects.

Approximately 30 people attended this training, where 70% were male and 30% female. Including among these organizations were: OXFAM-GB, MINSA, INLS, IPMP, ASASP, AJD, ADEMA, OIKOS, PROGRAMA CG, INACAD, AJS, AFDER, AAM, ADPP, LPV and PNCM. The Global Fund was also represented.

On Wednesday, the first day of the workshop, the themes presented by Malaquias Tenente and Francisco Afonso were: Project, Program and Financial Management, as well as Quarterly and Annual Report preparation. During the second day, Manuel Solis and Lemuardo Neto presented themes on Monitoring and Evaluation and Human Resources.

Similarly to what has been presented during a previous week seminar for NEX and DEX programs and projects, the thematic intervention which brought more attention was the one on monitoring and evaluation, being rated the highest in priority from the participants.

Cesar Menha, Financial Assistant from the Youth Association for Solidarity (AJS) from Lobito, «this training is very important so we can better do our job more effectively and efficiently». The Coordinator for the same association, Mr. António Salomão, said that «I was sick and was not planning to attend this seminar, but I am very happy because we got the best tools so we can better perform our duties in Lobito».
