INLS controls some 200.000 HIV-positive people

Luanda -1 December 2011 - At least 200.000 HIV-positive people are controlled by the National Institute for the Fight against AIDS (INLS) countrywide said the Deputy director, Lúcia Furtado, on Thursday in Luanda to the media. This figure is based on the output of a prevalence study conducted in pregnant women during their pre-natal consultations in the last three years.

In the ambit of the celebrations of the World AIDS Day, being marked on Thursday 1 December, INLS will launch a campaign under the motto “Know your serological state”.

The campaign will take place in the whole country and it expects to hold voluntary and free testing to more than one million and half of people.

Lúcia Furtado said that an awareness campaign dubbed “Red Lace Campaign” will be launched in order to sensitize the society on the danger of the disease.
