Environment minister speaks at High Level Follow-up Meeting

 Durban, 7 December 2011 – The Angolan Environment minister, Maria de Fátima Jardim, is addressing on Wednesday afternoon in Durban, South Africa, the High Level Follow-up Meeting under the ongoing 17th UN Conference on Climate Change.

In the forum, opened on Tuesday, the minister will reiterate the continuation of Kyoto Protocol and appeals to member states, mainly the developing and industrialised countries, to reduce the emissions of greenhouse effect gas (GEE), and thus have a good environment for the current and future generations.

The official will also speak about the development initiatives for vulnerability and unpredictable defense to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDG).

The minister is at the head of a delegation that comprises the Angolan standing representative to UN, Ismael Martins, ambassador Ambrósio Lukoki and other officials.

The meeting will end on Friday with approval of important documents that will decide the future of the current and coming generations, in the framework of mitigating actions that are contributing to the climate changes.
