Angolan head of State signs electoral package laws Luanda, 21 March 2012 - Angolan head of State José Eduardo dos Santos Wednesday in Luanda signed and ordered the publishing of Laws on Electoral Observation and Funding the Political Parties, considered essential to the process leading to general elections, scheduled for 2012. According to an official source, the Law on Electoral Observation establishes the principles and rules governing the national and international observation of the country's elections. Under the law, the national and international observation of electoral process starts with the electoral campaign running till the official release of definitive electoral results. While the Law on Funding of Political Parties, allows a more balanced participation in the process of Angola’s political parties and coalitions of parties, under the Political Parties Law in force. The law also protects those who are legally constituted and enjoy the support by State for participation in the electoral process. Still under the Law, both political parties and coalitions of parties can also benefit, in addition to the State funding, from support provided by individuals or private corporations, through grants, contributions, legacies and donations. |
