UN notifies the arrival of the new appointed UNDP Resident Representative for the Republic of Angola on 30 of July 2008.

Luanda, 28 July 2008 - The United Nations Secretary General has appointed Ms. Jocelline Bazile-Finley as UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative for the Republic of Angola.

Leading to her appointment, Ms. Bazile-Finley has a diverse United Nations career, spanning over thirty years, where she held progressively more senior positions with the United Nations Development Programme, focusing in particular on strategic partnerships with programme countries and institutions in Africa.

From 1991 to 2004, she served successively in three countries in the leadership position of UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Burundi, Cotê d’Ivore and Mali where she demonstrated her leadership skills in managing relationships with the Representative Governments, the UN Country Teams, Civil Society and Private Sector.

Her field experience also include other countries where she served, such a Senegal, Chad, Guinea, Central African Republic, in addition to the work she undertook from 1987 to 1991 as Regional Portfolio Manager involved in the conceptualization of a framework to strengthen capacity development with Regional African institutions.

Complementing her country office experience, Ms. Bazile-Finley has done considerable work at UNDP Headquarters as a Senior Manager in the bureau for policy, planning and evaluation, from 1988 to 1991, where she spearheaded the first operational Women in Development Division in charge of integrating the gender dimension in all UNDP programmes and projects.

Since 2004, her most recent position at UNDP Headquarter was as Deputy Assistant Administrator and Director of the Office of Planning and Budgeting in the Bureau of Management where she successfully led the organization through a reformed resource planning and allocation process, resulting in the approval or Results-based Budgeting.

Ms. Bazile-Finley holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Rosary College in Illinois (USA). 1974, she completed her Post-graduate studies in Economics Development at American University in Washington, DC.

Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Ms. Jocelline Bazile- Finley is a Haitian national, married, with one son.
