Disarmament commission analyses Job, cooperation with UNDP

Luanda, 4 March 2009 – The National Commission for Disarming of citizens in Illegal Possession of Firearms met Wednesday, March 4 in Luanda  to analyse the work done in January this year and a cooperation proposal with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The participants to the meeting, chaired by the prime minister, António Paulo Kassoma, also analysed a draft memorandum of cooperation with the non-governmental organisation “Viva Rio Brasil".

According to the agenda supplied to journalists, the meeting which also discussed proposals for a date marking the celebrations of disarmament, with a view to a survey into disarmament and publication of a book on the operation in Angola.
Also reviewed was a proposal on the agenda of the first broad session of the National Commission.

The meeting was attended by the ministers of Defence, Kundy Paihama, Finance, Severin de Morais, Education, Burity da Silva, and Social Welfare, João Baptista Kussumua. 

Representatives from the ministries of Justice, Public Works, Youth and Sports, Family and Women Promotion, Social Communication, Territory Administration, Armed Forces Staff, National Police Command and high ranking officials of the prime minister’s Office also attended the meeting.
