UNDP in Partnership: Building capacity for more effective partnering

Johannesburg, 20 February 2009 - The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) conducted a workshop from 18-20 February in the Johannesburg RBA Regional Centre, which gathered Representatives from Regional Country Offices (COs) for Information sharing, Partnering training and Peer-to-peer exchange and learning.

The participants were briefed a two-day through, on new partnership thinking, opportunities, modalities and procedures in a rapidly evolving aid environment; how to integrate risk management in the maintenance of existing partnerships and development of new partnerships, support the development and operationalization of Partnership and Resources Mobilization Strategies; build a stronger understanding of the partnering process, and to further develop some of the skills required for effective partnering; facilitate the peer-to-peer exchange of considerable partnering knowledge and experience of the participants; as well as on how to provide feedback to UNDP Headquarters on what support COs need to be able to partner more effectively.

UNDP-Angola was represented to the said workshop by Ms. Gita Welch, Country Director and Mr. Carlos Figueiredo, Assistant Country Director/ Business Development and Partnerships.
