Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs visits Angola

Under-Secretary- General for Political Affairs, Mr. B. Lynn Pascoe is to undertake a visit to Angola from 18 to 19 October 2009, within the framework of his tour to 5 African countries, namely, South Africa, Angola, Burundi, Uganda and Kenya.

 

In Angola, the UN Top Official is to discuss issues of mutual concern relating to peace and security in the Southern Africa sub-region and to explore how to further promote a strategic partnership between the United Nations and the region on those issues.

Mr. Pascoe is scheduled to meet with His Excellency Mr. José Eduardo dos Santos, President of the Republic of Angola, the Honorable Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, National Assembly Chairman, His Excellency Mr. Assunção dos Anjos, as well as with other Government officials and counterparts non-governmental organizations.

The Under-Secretary-General will be accompanied by Mr. Mamadi Touré, Senior Political Affairs Officer, and Ms. Roselyn Akombe, Political Affairs Officer.
