The Cypress Tree Project: An Initiative for the Rehabilitation of Cemeteries is an initiative providing Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots the opportunity to rehabilitate cemeteries that have been inaccessible to them over the years. 

The aims of the Project include:

Developing an inventory of all known cemeteries, and recording their current condition;

Engaging the public through an outreach campaign including a hotline and a website;

Developing proposals for protecting and/or rehabilitating cemeteries that the local and international bodies could support; and


Implementing cemetery rehabilitation projects with the help of local and/or international donors.


The Secretariat invites the public to participate in the rehabilitation of the following -Cypriot pilot cemeteries:

Greek Cypriot Cemeteries
· Omorphita - Nicosia
· Vasileia - Kyrenia
· Fyllia - Morphou

Turkish Cypriot Cemeteries
· Larnaca
