Communications office focuses on highlighting, packaging and disseminating project information about the organization. In this regard, the office uses various communication tools to acheive this including; press conferences, project launches, project visits for journalists as well as editing of a series of publications. Currently, the 'Communication for Development' (C4D) project is the flagship initiative for this office. Publications are hosted on the UNDP website.

Tomoko Nishimoto joins media stakeholders at launch of Taskforce to Ammend Media Act , Mombasa 9-12 October 2008

The UNDP Country Director Ms Tomoko Nishimoto joined Mr Waruru Wachira in launching the Media Taskforce to ammend the Media Act, between 9-12 October at the coastal town of Mombasa. The Taskforce will also look at the Freedom of Information and ICT bill before they are tabled in Parliament. The Media Act as it currently stands, prohibits the Media Council from accepting funding from the exchequer as well as from foreign donors. With an ammendment, funding will assist the Media Council to carry out activities that strengthen and professionalise the Media Industry in Kenya.

COMMUNICATION FOR DEVELOPMENT(C4D) PROJECT 2008-2012

"Communication for Development" was launched in June 2008 and will run for four years. The aim of this project is to develop and entrench the culture and practice of Communication for Development in Kenya, so as to increase professionalism within the media in accordance with priority thematic issues in Kenya.

UNDP-Kenya utilizes this public website to put its 'best face forward', showing the world what it does,how it does it and why as well as to advocate the Millennium Development Goals.
