"HUMAN RESOURCES UNIT"

Country Office Structure?
The Country Office has a staff establishment of 20 core posts funded from the regular budget and 12 posts funded from extra budgetary resources. With the envisaged conversion of the SC contracts to fixed term contracts the number of posts funded from our income account will increase significantly. A key area of focus is the need then to continue to improve the internal organizational support structures so as to strengthen our operational performance to support UNDP s development agenda in Kenya.

Human Resources
Its overall responsibility is to support and advise management in acquiring, deploying, developing, motivating and retaining staff and in improving the Country Office s overall effectiveness in achieving its mandate in Kenya..The Unit though small in size and staffing continues to stretch itself to meet increasing demands of an expanding mandate way beyond what was envisaged for a typical UNDP country office personnel unit. A count ofthe agencies that depend on UNDP s operational support services in terms of contract, payroll and personnel management has grown to a total of 19 agencies, funds or programmes including support to the country programme. . UNDP Country Programme Action Plan for Kenya

UNDP will contribute to Kenyas development through four key programmatic component goals: 1) help Kenya offer expanded opportunities to its poor; 2) enhance empowerment of Kenyas citizens through effective participation in decision-making processes; 3) help the Government of Kenya guarantee better levels of security to its people so that their empowerment cannot be compromised by unforeseen threats; 4) ensure the long-term sustainability of the Kenyan nation and build on the three previous goals by reversing the erosion of its resource base.
