2006 NHDR: LINKING HUMAN SECURITY TO HUMAN DEVELOPMENTThe fifth National Human Development report gives us an insight to what progress is being done in Kenya in relation to security and the well-being of the people of Kenya .Click to read the full report. "2006 GHDR: Beyond Scarcity : Power, poverty and the global water crisis" UNDP-Kenya launched the 2006 Human Development Report at the Kenya Institute of Education on 23 November 2006. Kenya's Kibera Slum is mentioned widely in the report. At the launch, a short film on Kibera Slum was shown to more that 100 particpants. In the film, Mr. Kevin Watkins-Director Human Development Report Office is featured. Water is a source of life and a natural resource that sustains our environments and supports livelihoods – but it is also a source of risk and vulnerability. Ms. Elizabeth Lwanga, Resident Representative, UNDP-Kenya 2005 Global Human Development Report "International cooperation at a crossroads:Aid, trade and security in an unequal world" International development assistance is one of the most effective weapons in the war against poverty. However, it needs to be reshaped to increase its quantity, improve its quality and predictability and reduce its transaction costs and enhance recipient country ownership. Although there was progress at Gleneagles Summit, too little aid is given and donors need to deliver on their promises.
