Support to the National Environmental Commission of Liberia: On February 10, 1999 , President of the Republic of Liberia , Dakpannah Dr. Charles Ghankay Taylor established the National Environmental Commission of Liberia (NECOLIB) in recognition of the need to protect to the Liberian natural and human environments. 

The National Environmental Policy of Liberia A policy is a set of guidelines that directs the course of action of an individual or group of people.  Environmental policy is therefore a set of guidelines designed for sustainable management of the environment.  It is part of a strategic plan of action on which laws and regulations related to the environment are based.

General Summary of Process: The National Environmental Policy of Liberia; Environment Protection Agency Act of the Republic of Liberia; and Environment Protection and Management Law of the Republic of Liberia. 

 Liberia Environmental Protection Agency Act : This part of the Act sets up the Environment Protection Agency and the institutional  arrangements that support the Agency.  The main bodies created under Part II are the Policy Council, the Agency, the Board of Directors, and County and District Environmental Committees.

Environment Management and Protection Law of the Republic of Libera: These are the principles that should guide all activities relating to the environment of Liberia .  They are international standards established by international environment conventions, treaties, protocols and agreements to which Liberia is party or is in the process of becoming party to, such as Convention on Biodiversity, Convention UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, Convention to Combat Desertification.
