ENERGY & ENVIRONMENTLiberia as an extensive range of flora and fauna, to retain and enrich this variety it is important for the Government to develop policies and strategies to sustain them. UNDP through its programme on sustainable management of the environment aims to support the Government in formulating policies that protect biodiversity and address climate change to mitigate natural and manmade disasters. In 2008, a National Environmental Action Plan (NEAP) for Liberia and a policy to establish a National Disaster Response Commission (NDRC) in the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) were completed and validated with stakeholders. In addition, approximately 60 environmental stakeholders and government representatives participated in the validation and adoption of the Integrated Contingency Plan for Disaster Response. UNDP supported the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in setting up 4 field offices in Grand Gedeh, Bong, Margibi and Grand Bassa and the provision of laboratory equipment for air and water quality testing valued over US$27,000. The Sustainable Land Management Project was officially rolled out in 2008, with the provision of full logistical support. Priorities for 2009:
