Preparatory events for the 5th Forum of the WACAP, (Valencia, 29-31 March 2006)

Orgexpo Foundation organizes, with the support of Republic and Canton of Geneva, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and City of Geneva, and in collaboration with UN-HABITAT, UNDP, UNEP, ICC, UCLG, WBCSD, WWF International, the annual international platform S-DEV Geneva 05 on Sustainable Urban Development (Objective n.7 of the Millennium Development Goals).

For its first edition, from 11th to 13th October 2005, S-DEV Geneva 05 will focus on the Sustainable Urban Development. It will take place at Geneva PALEXPO.
The Conference, Exhibition and Workshops represent the three components of the platform. They are a showcase for urban innovations of the North and the South, around four poles of discussions: Technologies, Governance, Civil Society and Enterprises. These poles are the cardinal points of the platform because they support the confrontation of ideas and experiences between different actors.
The participants are the representatives of international organizations, local and governmental authorities, non-governmental organizations, civil society and enterprises.
Actors and decision-makers will have the opportunities to share their best practices, extend their networks and create a sustainable partnerships.

Celebration of the International Day for the Elimination of Poverty, 17th October 2005, around the Objective N°1 of the Millennium Development Goals, by the Municipality of Huy (Belgium).

Proclaimed in 1992 by UN General Assembly, the International Day for the Elimination of Poverty is celebrated every 17th October in all over the world. This date represents a real opportunity for all of those who want to testify their commitments against poverty.For that purpose, the municipality of Huy elaborated a programme for that day notably containing a presentation, by the Belgium municipalities and associations, of their realizations during the International Decade for the Elimination of Poverty (1996-2006), the central theme of the 5th Valencia Forum.
The results of these two events will be presented during the 5th WACAP Forum (Valencia, 29-31 March 2006)
