Dr.
Geeta Rao Gupta
Dr. Geeta Rao Gupta is President of the
International Center for Research on Women
(ICRW), a Washington, D.C.-based organization
that undertakes policy-oriented research,
technical assistance, and advocacy focused
on women's economic roles, health and nutrition,
the environment and natural resources, adolescent
sexual health, and women's rights. Dr. Rao
Gupta has worked extensively on women's
health issues as a researcher, program evaluator,
and policy analyst, with a particular focus
on South Asia and southern and west Africa.
She is an internationally recognised expert
on HIV/AIDS and gender with over 20 years
experience in gender research and program
development. Dr. Rao Gupta serves on many
Boards, including the International AIDS
Vaccine Initiative, the Ms. Foundation for
Women, the Moriah Fund, and the National
Council for Research on Women. In addition
Dr. Rao Gupta is a member of several advisory
bodies, including the Population Program
of the David and Lucile Packard Foundation,
the Women's Rights Division of Human Rights
Watch, and the UN Secretary-General's High-Level
Panel on Youth Employment, Geneva. She received
her Ph.D. in social psychology from Bangalore
University, India.
