Dr.
Mari E. Pangestu
Dr. Mari E. Pangestu is a member of the
Governing Board of the Center for Strategic
and International Studies in Jakarta and
former Head of its Economics Department.
She is currently based in Shanghai, serving
as a Leader of the Pacific Economic Cooperation
Council's Task Force on Trade and Investment
Issues in APEC and WTO. She is also an Adjunct
Professor at the Australian National University
and a member of the Indonesian National
WTO Commission. Dr. Pangestu's research
focuses on industrial policy - in particular
the development of export-orientated manufacturing
industries in South East Asia, trade policy,
and macroeconomic development. Previously
she has worked as Research Coordinator for
the Program for Financial Policy and Training
at the Ministry of Finance and the Harvard
International Institute for Development
in Indonesia. Dr. Pangestu is a regular
consultant to the World Bank, Asian Development
Bank, UNCTAD, FIAS International Finance
Corporation, and a Commissioner to Great
River International, one of Indonesia's
leading garment manufacturers and exporter.
She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the
University of California at Davis and has
received numerous awards and honors.
